2017 Events
From 12pm
Toowong Council meeting place, Josling St Toowong (right next to Perrin Park).
The Student Practice Day is a free service for Harp Society members. Students can play pieces for feedback/encouragement/tips from harp teacher Jaclyn Miles. This can be for any purpose but mostly for the Una Morgan Harp Competition (23/7) or an upcoming harp exam.
Time 1:30pm for a 2:30pm start
Carina and Districts Community Centre
Cnr Sankey and Edmond Sts, Carina
The Una Morgan competition is run by HSQ and open to all ages and levels of harpists who are members of HSQ. It is an opportunity to perform in a competitive yet encouraging environment, fostering confidence in performance, and constructive feedback. It is also a good opportunity to meet other harpists in the community.
This year the wonderful Domenica Musumeci from Geneva will be adjudicating the competition. Domenica studied with Sebastien Lipman at the QLD Conservatorium and is now a Professor at the Conservatoire de Musique de Geneve.
If you are feeling competitive, or just want to play to an audience and meet other harpists, I would encourage you to enter. It is a great opportunity to give harp players the benefit of a large and welcoming audience and the experience of professional harp competition.
It would be fantastic to see more new faces at the competition this year, so enter today!
